Barcode / Painted Bamboo
Bambusa Vulgaris c.v. Vittata
Another stunning plant displaying Australian national colours. Normally grows 12 metres plus.
Warning: Tallawong' mother plant is enormous over 15 metres but provides a great deal of shelter from the prevailing wind. Vittata has a wide spreading rhizome structure, which means a large area is required. Wide yellow poles have a green striping, with a pending nature.
Whistling wind makes it rustle with a hollow sound. Fast growing/drought tolerant. Dwarf by cultivating in a pot or planter. Ornamental rather than a good timber bamboo.
