Distinctive swollen nodes makes this Bambusa resemble the iconia Chinese Buddha. 

Fat culms go in all directions - new shoots are stunning.  Dark green foliage.  With a  spreading nature. Once mature can be sculptured to suit a site. Handles rough conditions with minimal water - when established needs to be stressed to encourage its unique bulge. This is not a skinny bamboo - but a beauty all the same but it needs space.  To make it look its best starve !
