Monastery Bamboo
Thyrostachys Siamensis
From Burma/Thailand where it is planted around temples and monasteries, due to its extremely tight growing slender formation. Often trimmed to shape. Small delicate fine foliage starts 3-4 metres up the culms.
A plant that is being researched for bio-fuel, its shoots are also a delicacy but not too easy to access. Our cultivar of Monastery Bamboo is a stunning example.
For a magical screening effect, plant at your own castle plant 2 metres apart!
