Monastery Bamboo
Thyrostachys Siamensis
Native to Thailand and Burma where it is planted around Buddhist temples and monasteries, due to its extremely tight growing formation and tall slender style. Delicious shoots.
Small fine delicate foliage starts 3-4 metres up the culms. Grows 12 metres in height, with 2-3m diameter. Difficult to propagate so very limited stock. Our own cultivar is a stunning example of this bamboo - on request we will propagate to order. For a magical property entrance - plant at YOUR temple 2 metres apart !
